Uriel Heilman is an award-winning journalist based in Israel who writes about Israel and the Middle East, US Jewry and the wider Jewish world. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, the New York Post, Salon, NY Daily News, the Houston Chronicle, Haaretz, Times of Israel, the Jerusalem Post, Israel Hayom, Ynet, JTA and myriad other publications.
Uriel has worked as managing editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, as the New York bureau chief for the Jerusalem Post, and as a reporter for the Forward. He is the winner of 15 journalism awards from the American Jewish Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists, including for stories covering war in Israel, Jewish life in America, the kosher food industry, Holocaust restitution, Ethiopian immigration to Israel, and #MeToo issues in the rabbinate.
A frequent guest on television and radio programs, Uriel lectures to audiences around the world about the issues he covers. He also works with clients on content projects and media strategy, including directing business and content partnerships for 70 Faces Media.
Uriel is originally from New York, earned a degree in history from Brandeis University, and lives in Israel with his wife and four children.
